Do's and Don'ts of
Trekking
Gilly, our long grass expert, would like to
share some important tips of the Do's and Dont's of treking.
DO .... Understand we are undertaking a multi
day trek into the wilderness, at times more than a days travel to the nearest
trailhead. We are totally dependent on our own ability and responsible for our
own health. This is in large part why we are here, and why such great
satisfaction can be derived from such a trip.
DO .... Understand we will be traveling and
camping in the thin air at and above 10,000 ft.
DO .... Drink plenty of water, it is easy to
become dehydrated in the high dry air.
Do
Not ... Allow yourself to become over heated or chilled. Wear
layered clothing and add or remove when required. Do not become soaked in
sweat.
Do
Not ... Drink any water that has not been filtered or boiled
for at least 15 minutes.
Do
Not .... Wear wet socks. Blisters may form and become
debilitating.
DO .... Always
watch your footing, particularly in wet conditions and stream crossings. A
walking stick is recommended.
Do
Not .... Over do. We do not have to adhere to a "if it's
Tuesday it must be Belgium" schedule.
DO .... Report any discomfort, difficulty or
injury to the guide.
Do
Not .... Consume alcohol on the trail, VERY moderate
consumption is allowed in camp.
Do
Not .... Smoke during the Trek.
Do
Not .... Bring pets. We miss ours as much as you will miss
yours but their safety is the primary concern.
DO .... Read the recommended list and practice
packing. Make sure everything fits the size and weight limits.
DO .... Treat this as a trip of a lifetime even
though you might come back every year. We will do everything we can to provide
that level of experience. |
