in beautiful Boulder, Wyoming, at the foot of the
Wind River Mountains. The Highline trail traverses some of the most spectacular
scenery in the Rocky Mountains. The segment in "The Winds" covers about 72
miles across the middle of the wilderness from Big Sandy in the south to Green
River Lakes in the north. It offers ever-changing vistas as it leads over
alpine tundra, crosses timber benches, streams and old burns in their process
of renewal. Along the way it connects with numerous other trails that are
heading for high passes, secluded lakes and alternate trailheads. In fact there
are over 600 miles of trails in the Bridger Wilderness, each with their own
intriguing journeys and destinations.
There are hundreds upon hundreds of lakes and
streams teeming with trout waiting to test your skills. These include Golden
Trout and Grayling, along with Cut Throat, Rainbow, Brook, Brown, and Lake
Trout. Pristine wilderness, granite peaks bathed in alpenglow, hiking amid
meadows of wildflowers while traveling with llamas create a lifelong memorable
experience.
